The New Acad Year
I had a blast from our Hanami-BBQ party last Sunday. There were about 20 of us, 3 were Japanese friends and the rest were proud pinoys and pinays. We feasted on terrific food, welcomed new students, enjoyed the cherry blossoms, said goodbye to vacation, while celebrating the beautiful spring season. Here is a nice picture of us under a cherry blossom tree.

Happy times are gone. I now say hello again to studies, which is a different kind of fun. Second year of grad school. I won't be taking so much classes like I did the last time. I've almost completed my course work and it's now time to concentrate on my thesis. I have nine months to finish that. No worries yet, I guess.
Since my acad load will be lighter, I will have little projects to keep me busy. Two new temporary blogs, one for Filipino students here in Kyoto, and the other about Philippine languages, which will be co-managed by linguist-in-waiting. I also plan to collect some materials to be used as exercises for Japanese language classes in our department back home. And I will work onto something publishable in a journal this sem. I hope I can see my name in print before the year ends. Or better yet, before the fall sem starts.
Yes! I have objectives. Now, I only have to take action. And I will.
