sana hindi na lang ako teacher

this has nothing to do with status of a teacher here in the philippines. it is usually said that teachers are the most overworked underpaid people in our labor force. still, everybody admits that without our teachers we would be nobody, nowhere. everytime i chat with colleagues of the same age, we would always lament on our pathetic situations. we could have gone outside the academe, earn twice or thrice what we are receiving in the university and still not be as burnout as we usually are. we would ask each other 'why are we here?' although we know THE answer. its the same for all of us. the fulfillment and knowlegde that everyday you touch your students' life. everyday you share yourself. your "kids" will grow and will carry a part of you. big responsibility...
but what if there are sides of you that you don't want to share? we are not always good christians, well i am not. but i want my "kids" to be good, in every sense of the word. how can i mold them to be one when even i am not ready to be one?
